happiest happy to my little sister

[artwork and photo for by way of ney]
"A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life." Isadora James

Today is the day my sister was born 25 years ago. I was 3 years and 9 months old but I still remember it clearly. I remember going to the hospital and waiting for her to arrive into this world. I remember playing in the waiting room, spilling the giant yellow plastic Crayola box on the ground while drawing and eating a container of cheese balls until I tired of it and began to throw them into the air and squash them into the carpet. I don't know how this all happened but obviously the adults had other things going on. I remember that my aunt Bev took me home with her that night and I remember playing in the bath at her house.

Carly was always my baby sister. She always will be. For a long time I introduced her as my "little sister" but that is no longer true. She is my "taller, younger sister" truly. She is a best friend to me and by far the stronger of the women I know. She is more compassionate and sympathetic than anyone could ever teach themselves to be. She will forever hold a part of me that no one else could ever come close to touching. I am forever grateful to my parents for the gift that they gave me in her. Without her, my childhood and growing up would have be insufficient.

I love all the pictures of you guys, but especially the one in the lower right hand corner--sexy girls!! I remember the cheese balls too going everywhere at the hospital...funny.
