hawaiian countdown

In just five days my man and I will be in Hawaii. He will be working and I will be relaxing and we will be celebrating our three year anniversary.

looking forward to:

1] find the best shaved ice on the island

2] eat amazing fresh fruit and seafood

3] watch my man surf when he's done with work

4] swimming in the warm water

5] waking up and putting my bikini on straight away

6] listening to great music

7] doing Pilates on the sand

8] smelling plumeria

9] going on drives with the top down

10] reading lots of magazines

11] (maybe) giving surfing another try

Are you going on a vacation to somewhere warm soon? Maybe this summer. What things do you look forward to on vacation?

leaving on a jet plane...

I'm leaving in an hour to head to the airport and fly north to Seattle where it will be cloudy and rainy and cozy and for the third year in a row I will get to spend a week of the winter with my best friend. Her husband plays soccer on the Seattle Sounders and when they are in the off season he is away traveling and training for long stints of time. So, when better than during that time to go up and spend time with her and do any and all things girlie.

I'm looking forward to...
morning workouts
long drives with nothing to do but chat
(one of these drives will be to the one and only Lululemon outlet!)
daily coffees
mild shopping
yummy meals all over the city
a new glassy baby
quiet afternoons in her home
co-hosting a Stella & Dot party
and SO much more!

Don't you worry...I'll return with a full report!

Have a great weekend!
xo

rainy (please) weekend

Early on in the week when I looked at the weather report it said there would be rain by this weekend. It is still looking like we'll finally get some on Saturday and I'm totally looking forward to it. Snuggled up inside, getting lots of things done with lots of time to do them. The last two weekends (here & here) were FILLED minute-by-minute with not a lot of time for reflection or inspiration. There is my list of desires for the weekend.

1] make some valentines

2] finish up a few things around the house
(finally organize my desk, linen closet, and laundry room)

3] make a yummy and delicious pretzel treat

4] run lots of errands

5] clean the house

6] play in my soccer game
(I seriously can't wait for this one. I had to miss the game last weekend and I just want to go run around.)

7] type up the last of my Pilates lecture notes

8] take a bubble bath

9] watch a movie
(Iron Lady, Young Adult, The Descendants...so many to choose from)

I've also come up with some Valentines/LOVE related posts for the pre-V-day weeks that I think you're gonna love. Think, my love story, homemade Valentines, sweet treats for your sweetie, and more!

Also, if you haven't already seen these seen the "sh*t ___ says" series of videos, you should watch them over the weekend. If you have already, you should watch them again. (laughs guaranteed)
This one cracks me up!

santa baby...

Since it's Friday and I've posted all the gift guides that I had planned I thought I would share just a few things that I wouldn't be mad about seeing under the tree. Some of these things you've seen in the past gift guides. Some are new. Really all I want for Christmas is a little break from the crazy that has been normal in my life right now. I am definitely looking forward to a little time to slow down and just be in the holiday spirit with my loving and ever encouraging husband. This weekend we're having a little holiday party so get excited for a post with all the fun next week! Until then...happy weekend!

things to look forward to...

seasonal desires...

[via weheartit]

This summer I want to:

1) Travel to where the water is warm, like bathtub warm. I think I'll get my fix while in South Beach. I leave this Sunday for Florida. There is just something that I get out of warm salty water that I just don't get in the chill-you-to-the-bone cold water that we still have here. My husband surfs, and surfs in the winter, so he thinks the water here has definitely warmed up but not for this girl!

2) Cook more dinners on the grill and eat them outside! Grilled filets, grilled warm spinach salad, grilled peaches drizzled with balsamic... mmmm.

3) Learn to do things that I'm not familiar with. I'm NOT good at this. I think it's been my lesson so far in 2011. I don't like doing things that I am not a "natural" at. Hence, I hated golfing in Anza Borrego over New Years. I'm hoping that this summer I may be able to be more patient with myself. Maybe I'll learn to crochet or knit.

4) Finish the projects that I've got around. I know I'm not the only one who does this. From home projects, to making jewelry, there are ideas that have been floating around the office and my pinterest boards

5) Do more outside; riding my bike, reading, hiking, maybe even a horse back ride. I've thinking about finding a place and doing this for the last couple of years. This summer might just be that time.

6) Take day trips to places like Santa Barbara and San Diego.

7) Master a light signature cocktail. I'm thinking something like a low calorie mojito.

8) Wear big sun hats because, they're adorable AND my face doesn't need the wrinkles.

9) Read the books I've been thinking about for a while. Mostly this one, from this guy.

10) Figure out a new place to make our home. This probably should have been number 1 but it will come when it is meant to.
